Or just use a regular radiator and call it a day?
Heat is heat, no matter whether it dissipated from the big old radiator or the one inside the PC...

The furnace went out in my family's house as a kid and in the interim my brother and I used a couple of Prescott P4 Dell towers to heat our room. On a cold night (for the south, 25-30 F or so) the room didn't drop below 75* F. Can confirm, heating with PC works.

you realize that if you just put an air-cooled pc in your closet, it makes the same amount of heat as a water-cooled pc, right?
that you can heat your house exactly the same amount just by running your pc indoors? in your house?
that the water cooling loop has absolutely nothing to do with anything? its just weird and stupid?
the heat is being put off by the pc itself. and whether you take it and heat water with it before you heat air with it is completely irrelevant to anything.

If the pipe threads are tapered and undamaged, teflon tape doesn't help it seal any better. That's why the taper is there, to seal as it gets tighter. If untapered, yes, seal those suckers.

It already heats the room ! If something electronics like a TV or computer says 500 watts, it is putting out about 500 watts in HEAT into the room. The only exception is the heating of cables, a percent or two, and if it's a transmitter of some EM, like a Ham radio, a large portion of the energy will be transmitted or a light bulb in light, which still turns into heat eventually. Aim a spotlight on a car for example will heat up the car a little.

Because the PCs Components dissipate their heat into the room air anyway.

This whole rig is pointless, they could have just set up the system like normal with fans in the room and it would have had the same effect. Might have been slightly faster even, as there wouldn't have been all that extra mass.

So is there anything that can be done to not have your pc heat up a room apart from exhausting it out?

Does Wattage PC consumption roughly equate to head output of same Wattage space heater (albeit a little less efficient)?

Would lowering PC power consumption reduce heat out to room by any noticeable margin? For example 65W CPU vs. 105W -130W CPU? Similar concessions for a video card?

What would be the most bang for the buck/power to ambient heat ratio if that is what mattered to you? Is the difference negligible (or non-existant ....i.e. same temps only change is amount of time it takes to hit them)?

Power consumption seems to be creeping up and up and up (350W, 450W, 700W, 1000W) ... so are we just doomed?

Anecdotally my i5 4670k + gefore 980 (700W PSU) keeps my room 3 to 4 degrees warmer than rest of apartment. May not seem like much....but it's the difference between 68-72 and being fine, to 71-76 and feeling too toasty.
