I think the movie is about of course an alternative timeline for the Manson murder, but also the journey of a western actor who is trying to cope/change the fact that he is becoming our of style. His story of regaining relevancy. I loved the relationship between rick and cliff, one of my favorite supporting actor performances

This movie is like a gritty slice of life anime series condensed into a move... I liked it though

I thought the movie was fine, but it was dissatisfying that there wasn't a true plot. When the credits rolled, I felt blue-balled. Brad Pitt was the best part of the movie. If he wasn't there, the movie would've fallen apart

I genuinely feel sorry for you and everyone else that are incapable of understanding Tarantino movies. Nothing is more interesting and exciting and brings me more joy watching like all of his stuff, and i cant count how many times ive seen each and every. Since death proof i go several times at the cinema too. There is a lot of out there that dont get it, you prefer superhero movies and that more, you even said the last 15 minutes worked because of the action and humor, point proven. But ignorance is bliss, but I wish you could keep it to yourself. I stopped watching your moist meter since i found out you like anime, I just cant trust any of your judgement of movies since its completely the opposite. I had to watch this one though as I really wanted to know your reaction. And it was exactly what I expected.

All you edgy incels can call me a thot and shit now, or ust invalidate my opinion because im a WHAMAN... You know Charlie, how the majority of your fanbase behaves on twitch. I actually wonder what you feel about so many of your fans being entitled incel shits blaming others for them not getting laid, cause you never seemed like that type of person before. Watched your content since 2009/2010 and told people since about you by the way, take this as you will. I just felt like typing, useless though.

Charles manson was briefly in the movie outside of roman polanskis and sharon tates house looking for his old friends who lived there before them. But ya same difference.

I disagree completely with everything you said. It was characters living their lives and it was a chill movie. I absolutely loved it and it's not because it was a QT movie, but because it was a beautiful film.

This movie was not like any other movie I’ve seen. I loved how even if you were getting a bit bored in anticipation, there was another scene ready after. It made me realise that this was the movie I’d hoped it would be but wouldn’t expect from Tarantino. It’s relaxing and it’s a beautifully shot way of showcasing some nostalgia for some and just beauty for others like me. The action toward the end would never have the impact it did if the movie were half the length. On the other hand. The trailers that were released implied a more action packed, manic movie, which I think could have been just as good if not better in my imagination, however I think this movie is just one that’s meant to be watched in a different way. Can’t blame Charlie for looking at all movies in the same lens, but I think you need to just sit back and accept this movie more so than to be on the edge of your seat in anticipation - and I blame that on the trailers mostly. I’m not even a big Tarantino buff even though I like all of his movies, they don’t all really stand out to me like something like a Fincher or Christopher Nolan movie. That being said I think personally this is one of his best by far, just not what a lot might expect. Btw mocking people for being pretentious doesn’t make you look any less pretentious yourself, you basically have to imply that you understand something better than everyone else and blanket everyone who disagrees as pretentious - thus ironically making you pretentious in doing so.

Im not in the general film industry but I am in the animation industry. Those two fields are very similar. However I still got some of their inside jokes but i was still not as impressed.

Charlie’s totally entitled to his own opinion, but I gotta disagree and say it was a really fun, well done movie.
It takes on more of a slice of life feel. There’s not SUPPOSE to be a major overarching plot in the movie, there’s a theme that’s carried through these people’s daily life.
Also, Sharon Tate in the movie wasn’t meant to do much. *spoilers* this movie is dealing with Charles Manson and his cults murder of Sharon Tate in the 60s but *MAJOR SPOILER* Quinton Tarantino subverts expectations by not having the murder occur at all.
Again, it’s totally fine for Charlie to not like this movie. Slice of life isn’t for him, just wanted to voice a different opinion for those considering seeing it.

I’d imagine Charlie wouldn’t be a big fan of slice of life/studio ghibili films. Films that don’t really focus on a main plot, and more a theme based in someone’s daily life.

I like how anyone who proposes a different opinion is apparently a “tarantino fanatic”. I have only seen about 3 movies from this guy and found to love this movie. Even if the “plot” didn’t do anything for you, you have to appreciate the beautiful and amazing shot cinematography. Was a joy to look at and experience a slice of foreign life.

Tbh I thought the movie was overall boring and forgettable. I usually like movies like this too and was very excited to see it. There was a few fun scenes and really nice visuals but overall it just dragged and had no plot. Not sure why the ratings are so good.

I don’t exactly understand why Sharon’s character could have been taken out of the film and how you think she had no significance.

I think the characters as you put it ‘doing nothing’ wasn’t particularly right. Rick was finding his identity, cliff was experiencing his own real life western, coming face to face with the inevitable black cloud which completely rattled cinema and even the late 60s for that matter. Sharon was resurrected, that scene where she watches herself in ‘the wrecking crew’ was beautiful and moving, she knows that the stardom she was groomed for didn’t necessarily work out but she embraces the future with a smile on her face. This film was character based and we saw them living in the moment. The whole film is a moment. The moment was stripped away in real life because at what happened at the Tate residence however Tarantino has brought it back with style, heart and a horrifically satisfying ending.

It's not that he didn't trust the actor to be too gentle. The actor wasn't supposed to strangle her at all, so no need for being gentle or not. Tarantino simply wasn't satisfied with what he had, so he asked to strangle her for real, only once. He did it all with her consent, so I don't see a problem.

You have high ass expectation for one simple movie about movies. You liked alita but hated bladerunner 2049. If you are going to complain about the long timing in movies then show better examples of pointless scenes. Now its reasonable that you hate Quinton for doing these insane shit, but you think he is going to let that stop him from making movies? Christophor nolan didnt stop making movies because of heths death or the Aurora shootings. He still made more movies till this day. And thats brave for anyone who wont let those events stop them. Now as for your pretty shitty opinion of the movie that seems to be your problem and thats fine. But saying that the actors are the only thing about the movie that is actually good is saying that you like the frosting of the cake but not the rest of it. Dude you need to open your mind more to the movie then just seeing it as a fucking cake. Movies are not entertainment, they are art. And if you think thats not true then thats the reason why you cant enjoy a good movie. Your honestly just like angry joe and so now i promote you to headass of movie reviews.

Brad always obeyed Leonardo, never chasing the gypsy until he wasn't on a task, then he did. Same with his dog all throughout the movie, same with Leonardo with his career. Super interesting.

There’s so much more to this movie. It did a poor job of entertaining people with no knowledge of Charles Manson. But if you did know. It was filled with suspense and tension. And they put Sharon Tate in particular places at particular moments with certain context, to build that. And then towards the end you realize this wasn’t a tragedy. It was a fairy tale.

Charlie has one that I not only find very entertaining but I also greatly appreciate it. But it just hurts that he’s shat on 2 of my 3 favourites this year so far, being OUATIH and Midsommar. I’m very anxious to see what he thinks of Parasite, my other favourite, when it comes out in the US.

It doesn't appeal to everyone, it's just an experience. A film showing characters doing things. And I adored the humor, I gotta disagree when you said it didn't land.

I liked this one as a critique of films in general, and as a buildup for that godly ending. I also personally like Quentin as an artist, he does the things he does to make his films perfect. This one is not as good as the rest though, I will admit.
