I have shipped my desktop to myself via US Postal Service across the USA and I have flown with it across the USA and Overseas. I have duel GPUs, and a AIO Liquid cooler in a mid sized ATX case. I usually just stuff the insides with clothes I want to have with me at the destination. Fold them up and stuff them anywhere and everywhere so nothing can move on the inside. I didnt pay extra attention to the HDDs (Although that was the main thing I was worried about since I just kept them their cages). If you don't have that many clothes to bring, you can just stuff the insides with all the packing material you can find. Works the same.

As far as Monitors go. I just take my stands off of them and and place them on top a bunch of clothes in my suitcase And wrap clothes around them and stuff as many clothes I can around the edges making sure the monitors can't move. I have done this with a single monitor more times than I can count, and done it with two monitors once. Never had any issues.

For the outside of the box I just used the original box with the hard foam and stuffed as much extra packing material around the case as I could. I will be using the 2 box method as Linus suggested in the future though, due to the fact that my foam is completely shot after being shipped / moved so many times.

Hopes this helps anyone worried about transporting their beloved gaming PCs

Side Note: Take steps to avoid your case window(s) from getting scratched up. I did not and now mines is pretty scratched up

I worked in airfreight for nearly 10yrs so I can shed abit of light on this. From my experience and observations the best way to ship a PC, especially Internationally, is to palatize it. By strapping it to a small wooden pallet you right away prevent the case from being tipped or placed upside down, because being attached to a wooden pallet makes it more suited to being loaded in a vertical manner. Airfreight is considerably more expensive then traditional road transport, but in the case of road transport for domestic users I would still paletize it. And for an added protection I highly recommend once youve loaded it onto a small pallet that you then incase the PC in a simple plywood crate to the size of the pallet that the PC is strapped too. This way you have a gap between the crate and your PC which you can fill with packing, it also serves s a buffer incase the crate is punctured.

I take my pc to and from college all the time. I reserve a back seat to have my PC rest motherboard down so the mounting of all the components work with gravity. I've never had an issue yet, just can't drive too crazy!

crate your rig. crates are rare enough in normal shipping that it makes the handlers take pause as they assume it weighs a ton. I ship valuable antiques all the time this way and have never had any problems.

i feel like writing computer on the side of a box is a bad idea, i mean we all are supposed to feel like we trust the people handling our stuff, but in the case of delivery, if the box is on your porch or something, writing computer might help the delivery guy be careful but there is nothing stopping that random guy on the street from seeing something labeled computer then just swiping it

I wonder if you can have a proper flight case made for a PC case or monitor. That would solve the box problem.
