    Cereal companies have perpetuated a big myth about breakfast: that the first meal of the day is crucial to good health. And one of their most long-lasting claims is that breakfast is a good strategy for weight loss. Turns out, a closer look at the science suggests that may not be the case. We trace the origins of this myth, and the long history of breakfast companies making dubious health claims.

      I feel like this video leaves out quite a bit of information. Sure, sugary cereal is not good for you, but starting the day at school or work, after your body has been fasting for probably about 12 hours, is not good either. Nourishing our bodies regularly with healthy food is crucial. Pretty upset that a Vox video would ignore the bigger picture.

        Sorry, VOX, this video is kind of nonsense. It depends on WHAT you eat for breakfast. Natural foods are way better than manufactured products from big boxes..... Your video is based on data from research and marketing by multinationals. (Next time be more objective, VOX!)

              I get a plusebo effect when I don't eat breakfast. It only happens when I acknowledge I haven't had it yet, so sometimes I can get away without it and be fully productive, but on days I do realize I'ven't had breakfast there's not much I can do about it. I've been conditioned to feel slow when I think i'ven't had breakfast.

                    I eat a pretty minimal breakfast. I get hungry around 10:30, but it's not like my boss is going to give me my lunch break then, so I eat something small to tide me over.

                            breakfast is the first meal after fasting for more than 8 hours, eating breakfast does not mean to eat it as soon as you wake up. It is possible to have your breakfast at noon, it would be painful to do in the first week but once you get used to it, you feel so energetic in the morning even without eating anything.

                                                            Anyone with a real functioning brain knows the truth about when and what to eat. It's certainly not rocket science. God's first command was to eat of the garden....not the livestock. Nothing was GMO'd or sprayed. Enjoy natural foods - I try to avoid processed foods. I have become a vegan which I never thought I would. I gave up beef for the first month, chicken the second, milk the next, cheese next and so on. I have to admit, butter on vegetables will take some work on giving up!

                                                                                            I get super nauseous when I eat breakfast if I've just woken up and I always feel better if I eat small things throughout the day instead of gorging myself 2 or 3 times. Some coffee or chai in the morning to get me going and I'm good for several hours until I'm ready to eat something small. I will say that I personally lost a lot of weight when I moved out of state for uni when I could finally eat how I naturally wanted to instead of having to eat when it fit high school/home schedules. I went from my heaviest at 130 right before moving to 118-ish by Thanksgiving. Honestly, the important things are what you eat and eating when you're actually hungry (eating slow can let you judge when you're actually full so you don't accidentally overeat) -- I can't tell you how many times I forced myself to eat lunch or dinner when I wasn't actually hungry when I lived at home. Eat right, eat when you're hungry, and exercise and you should be basically good to go.
