    $53,000,000 = about $210,000/mo. From a tax base of only 16,000 residents?
    Tax and spend....

Oh really, the largest fraud in American history? How about the trillions of dollars missing from the Pentagon right before 911? 911 was a cover up for the stolen money. Investigate that Devon Bruce.

Even I have an accountant and I am a single person trader, so this town was really stupid for not having one because they would have figured out that Dixon was being robbed.
Yet Rita had an accountant as well, so how come they never figured that out?
While I'm on the subject, if you knowingly sold worthless shares, shouldn't you be charged with fraud?
Now go back to 2006 to 2008, why were most of the US investment banks never charged with selling fraudulent shares which were called Triple 'A', especially one man in particular, Richard Fuld aka the Gorilla?
In Iceland they hired an American prosecutor and jailed all their fraudulent bankers, please tell me why nobody in the US were charged for their dodgy activity especially at the SEC?

So the government recovered $10-12 million from Rita. How did Rita spend the missing $45 million with no assets to show for it? Who's responsible for paying the balance? Rita has nothing going left. Is the accounting firm liable?

Corruption and greed is rampant in Illinois...… So the treasurer farmed out her job to an accounting firm. She really didn't do anything....any work. She just enjoyed a lavish, but parasitic, lifestyle stealing from the taxpayers. She should be behind bars for the rest of her life...… Anyone who was negligent in this case should also be punished.

Presumably there was no one overseeing what she was doing, first mistake. She wasn't even a qualified Accountant. Horses cost a lot of money, and she was earning 80,000 Dollars a year, which is not a fantastic salary. Surely someone might have thought that an Equestrian hobby is not cheap, or was it just ignored. This is another case where she was allowed to use those accounts willy nilly so it's a bit late in the day to complain. The town got the 10 million not her. So they got $50 million back from the 53 million. Not bad.

In the case of bank auditors, who should have also caught this fraud, they don't understand a significant portion of the structure they are auditing. A competent auditor is worth her/his weight in gold, even more. Unfortunately, there are many incompetent auditors/accountants.
