Arthur C. Clarke speculated 1000 years should be a fair limit. Had it in his far future scenarios the "Fall of Night" ones.

IMO what might be possible in as early as 20 years is to make a very good Android body and get into it. Could just be a brain transplant into a clone - and it's possible (via scary toxic waste births) to make a body that's 100% normal except for no brain. Still would have an old brain then, but likely some kind of substrate stem cells could replace the neurons but let the consciousness pass into them.

Myself I'd like a human like machine body, though advanced enough I could feel though I'd keep an organic brain. I'd work out some kind of acceleration shield (like the Manga "Battle Angel") so any sudden start/stop would meet resistance to protect it. And btw "Corn Starch" if wet does that - "non-Newtonian Fluid" though I'd like something else between the cells.

Be cool, though. I could jump into different bodies depending on what I wanted, from full metal mobile tanks for asteroid/mars exploration to more attractive ones for fun times...

As I see it there's no point in being alive if you end up dead. Be it 100 years or 100 million years, anything you or your children, grandchildren, other descendants, learn, achieve, build, etc. it all will be gone sooner or later. Thus this brings one question - then why bother? If in the end I'm going to stop existing for eternity then why bother doing anything while I do exist? When I'm gone I won't care (or rather won't be able to care) and whatever I did will disappear faster than in 0 seconds (at least from my perspective).

If I was the only immortal person, I would hate it. I’d have to see everybody who I loved and cared for die. If everybody was immortal, I think that we would have a similar problem. Maybe we have been abused or been given hurtful words. We will remember them forever because we can’t die.

If you mean aging without having the disadvantages, like heart diseases and miscellaneous, I don't know if I would try to live forever. I'd be happy for the first century, but then I think I'd be like "Well, I've seen all I wanted, should I end it?" Because I'm not used to think about living more than 90 years. It's like when you say "it would be better with a society working somehow differently from our." "But, what kind?" We're not used to it, and I don't think we will. Because dying is part of the cycle of life.

every single comment: "I WANT I WANT I WANT". Everyone wants something they don't have, no one is satisfied with their life now. That is why the whole idea of living "forever" is a pipe dream. It is no different than ancient Egyptians thinking they could live forever if they mummified bodies. Only rich people would have access to this technology, while the majority of populations would suffer. Even if it was possible, a human would go insane after a couple hundred years. Can you actually imagine humans living that long? Already our endless wants have created wasteful technologies that are starting to kill animal species... it is so disgusting these comments. Everyone only thinks of themselves, but who cares if all the species on the planet die off right? We are humans, better than everything, deserve everything, owners of everything. It is the same mentality portrayed in the writings of every advanced empire in history. Then they crumble from their own ignorance. Can you actually imagine a world where the rulers from 4000 years ago were still alive now? Humans have to die so that new generations can arrive with new ideas and new perceptions. Humans have to die so that new generations with new personalities can have their experience. That is how we advance. That is how paradigm shifts happen. You are all so so selfish, just accept that death is natural and necessary. All Kurzgesagt videos give this narrative of false hope from limitless human expansion. Look around you. Look what our expansion has actually done to this planet.

I never want to go. Why people find the idea of the finite existence pleasant is beyond me, I want to find a way to persist forever. Those who believe forever would be hell, grant the technology to live forever, without granting the technology to make forever pleasant. Selective or total memory wipes allow you to exist, and have fun, forever. Even without that, I would rather be eternally bored than ever die. Floating in a void of nothingness unable to leave, forever? Yeah OK that's comparable, that's hell. But if I can still be in a town, still be with people, or just have land, mobility and entertainment? Fine with me. That thought doesn't instill me with the same depression-inducing terror grasping at my mind on a daily basis. I imagine myself sitting in nature, alone, just hanging out, eventually learning to empty my mind and think of nothing. Passive, almost a part of the environment around me, but alive. Still very much alive. That sounds wonderful, and if gets boring? I'll do something else. I would be so, so much happier if I could just know that I'm going to be OK, and I don't have a limited window of time to be. If I could just be free from this constant fucking fear and depression in my head, I would be much happier. I'll deal with the boredom later. After all, I'll have a lot more time to figure it out.
