Hey guys... this stuff is pretty serious to me. I want to be able to accurately discern truth in all that I do, so the techniques that Katy taught me here were super helpful. I hope you are able to use them as well. MediaWise has been using the hashtag #IsThisLegit across all social media, so tag them on Insta or Twitter (Where a lot of misinformation happens) and they'll get a team to help you figure it out. Also, the upcoming series I'm doing on Algorithmic Manipulation is going to be a very hardcore look into the inner workings of YouTube, Twitter, and Facebook. I hope you'll subscribe (http://bit.ly/Subscribe2SED ) and consider watching this 3 part series with me. I've never done a series like this, so I hope you find it to be as fascinating as I have while doing the research. Thank you very much for watching my internets. I'm grateful.

You are a wonderful person. I wish more people would listen to you. I am 60 and so tired of all of the B.S. (sorry) in this crazy world. If EVERYBODY would just stop and think about their actions and DESIRES and realize what impact they have on the entire world, it would be a better place. The world is going to end because WE stopped caring for one another. Love you.

Ahh, Google is very bias to start with! Real journalism is long dead, it is all hearsay, zero sources. Google journalism and fact check, give me a break, corporate-social media bias-power!

Actually the problem of good and bad news was already discussed in ancient times. Once a man approached Socrates and said "Socrates! I must tell you something about one of your students!" "Wait a second!" - replied the philosopher - "before you say that, I have to run the information through a 3-step filter. Firstly, are you sure if it is true?" - "Well, no, I heard it from a guy who heard it from a guy..." - "All right then, if this information would be true, would it benefit me in some way?" - "No, I don't think so." - "Well then, does this information at least put my student in a good light?" - "No, on the contrary." - "So let me recapitulate. You don't know if your story is true, it would have no use to me and could falsely slander one of my students. Therefore, I do not wish to hear it."
The above story shows that Socrates was a great philosopher. It also explains why he never learned that his wife had an affair with Plato.

Thanks, this is important, at least to me. I'm commenting mostly to say thanks, but also to try to help increase activity and views for this and other videos you've posted. Thank you Destin and Katy. I too want to be part of the solution and not part of the problem...work for good, not evil...Labore pro Pacem...

Whow! Great series. Very insightful and eye opening. I couldn't help but notices you missed an important aspect which most do when trying to solve an issue. The factor of human need to manage normal real life events.Going with what was said on the speed at which information/ads are generated far outweighing that of our speed to research before we post or retweet some piece, the fact that we can simply retweet something as easily as one click, while it could take hours to research one piece of news, would deter people from reposting anything. The ads and fake news will continue to proliferate and we continue stuck in the cycle of unreliable facts.

I truly believe that it is up to the corporations which created such systems and cultivated a culture of fake unreliable information to prevent the ease of simply clicking once to repost something as well as continuing to improve their efforts to rid the media frequencies for false information. What they need to do is shut down the entire report capability until they can figure out how to overcome this problem.

Thank you, thank you, thank you... for this video. I’m 61 and don’t do any social media... and I have totally given up on television news programs. So now I get frustrated with online news feeds. Trying to figuring out facts and truth, and truth unfortunately apparently a subjective thought.

Also... can we trust Google is not biased?

The fact the institute program was sponsored by google was immediately off putting considering google was recently exposed for trying to manipulate what they felt was even true in the first place. They want to make it so you only see what they think is true not was necessarily is, and many journalists feel the same way. Neither group is one I would give any consideration on how to judge truth given the current circumstances in in Google and journalism

Google has already shown how biased they are and their willingness to lie to and profit off of the American People's private information. Google as a Monopoly needs to be destroyed, the fact corporations arent held accountable is why the problem started.

I tried to weigh each side's opinion on an issue, but the problem is, when I listen to conservative radio, they're talking about one issue (and their argument makes sense), but when I listen to liberal radio, they're talking about a different issue (and their argument makes sense).
It's incredibly rare to hear a conservative opinion and a liberal opinion ON THE SAME TOPIC, back-to-back.
Except when they're having an insult fight, on the same program, so neither side actually addresses the issue at hand. Because then it's all "You're stupid" and "You're brainwashed", etc.
It leaves me wondering, "What happened to making a case for your viewpoint?"

If we changed the system in such a manner that we could collaborate.. it would not be like this. Ultimately, shareholders of stock are in general trying to defeat the general public to prevent ordinary people from taking away their market share, so they can remain million and billionaires. Centralization and competition compared to decentralization and collaboration

There is a slow drift to the left, many MANY people don't know that the shift is occuring because it is everywhere now. Just beacuse there are "experts" in the field now does not mean they are right, either CNN or FOX are wrong because they state polar opposite findings multiple times a day. The method of reading from the left and the right no longer works beacuse things that are left biased are widespread compared to the right. Part of this shift is due to Google manipulating search data and hiding conservative viewpoints. Think about it, why would you trust a company with congressional accusations of bias to tell you what is not biased. The fact that mediawise is supported by Google means its left biased.
