Or even Kevin Durant? Does he make the Death lineup and Hamptons 5 possible? To summarize the idea: Adding offensive players to Curry or Curry/Klay has diminishing returns, but Draymond's defensive value is (1) large and (2) incredibly hard to replace. Additionally, his unique skills allow Golden State to play these small-ball lineups *without* losing much on defense (teams usually sacrifice defense for offense when they go small) AND Green's playmaking optimizes offensive players who cut & shoot well.

Also, classic typo: His scoring rate on the final slide should read 1st%.

@ethan In any perspective switching KD for draymond green would make your team better overall. I cannot think of many scenarios that it would not.

Putting KD in almost any of the top 5 teams of the nba would make them instantly favorites to win the title. If you tried to do the same with Green that would not be the case. (imagine for example : Nuggets, portland, rockets, bucks etc....you cannot say the same for green).

Even for GSW in particular,i have no doubt in my mind if you had Green injured instead of Durant in the finals they would win the chip.

I really do not see the argument here.

Your comment and just asking the question is Green more valuable than durant, when we have seen the team before and after durant shows why players call him overrated.

With the same logic you can argue its not clear steph curry or whoever else is better than green...

Switch covington for green while durant plays for gsw the outcome would be same 100%. 2 chips.

If you think the GSW and kerr(or any other GM on any other team) would double think to resign KD (implying no injury)and let green go if KD wished so then you out of your mind mate.

That alone should answer who is better...

Nice vid but it's biggest flaw is that it only highlights Green skills. So it's a bit one sided. You'd be able to make a stronger argument if you highlight Durant and Klay's skill-set as well so you could compare. With that said, is Draymond the 2nd most valuable player on the Warriors? Well before KD got there perhaps(strong argument between him, Klay and Iggy who was really only in contendership their 1st championship) but after Durant arrived there's no question he is not. Since Durant has arrived, the two most valuable players have clearly been Curry and Durant. There's a reason why the offense revolves around those 2 or why they consistently finish higher in regular season MVP voting or Finals MVP voting.

Green is a vital piece to the warriors, IF ONLY he was humble and shut is BIG ASS MOUTH a little , everybody would love him.
But also, it's easier to do these kind of things when the opponent are barely looking at you and are fully focused on Curry , Klay and Durant

    • Lakers Fan Till LeBron Leaves

Green is criminally overrated and misunderstood. Hes a great ball player. People expect too much from him offensively. Hes not an iso player. Its his defense, energy and leadership that makes him so great.

Lakers Fan Till LeBron Leaves facts, people say he’s bad because he doesn’t score but why would they need him to score with Curry, KD, and Klay? It’s what people don’t understand

I love your analysis though your play selection might be misleading, you showed Draymond scoring 4 points in the first minutes of the video and, as you said, he scores 7 points a game. Hard to say he’s constantly using scoring as a weapon.

one thing i dont like. if a player doesnot give a crap about regular season dont tell me how he "stepped up" in the playoffs. i hear that every time. kawhi, lebron and green are examples. guys are coasting and yotubers and media tells me how good is that. even the best guys like you.

So to sum it up, green does everything that lebron is supposedly so GREAT at doing, playing point guard and defending all 5 positions on the floor. Lol.

When was the last time lebron defended the other team's forwards/center for two possessions in a row. NEVER. But yes, lebron is "saving his energy on defense."

Steph may play the 1 but he's a 2 disguised as a point. In all five finals runs for the Warriors, Dray has led in assists by as much as Lebron does with his teams. And people have the ARROGANCE to call Steph a better point than Magic, John Stockton, IT, or Lebron, which he straight up is not.
