  • Penny is the oldest goat on our farm. Today we find out some news that will change her life forever.

Each morning on our one acre farm in the city of Phoenix, Arizona, we start the day with milking goats, feeding pigs, and gathering eggs. We have a small plot of land, but boy, do we make the most of it. Each animal on our farm is taken care of holistically & organically. We let the mama goats raise their babies until they reach 10 weeks of age and are naturally weaned from nursing. We keep a small herd of 5-7 milking goats, mainly the Nigerian Dwarf breed, although we still have the queen of the herd, Luna, our Nubian goat. We use the fresh goat's milk to make cheese, butter, cream, and we use it in all sorts of baking & cooking. We love that we can walk into our backyard and gather food. It's the best feeling ever!

After the morning chores, we usually tend to the pond -- we're always adding new pond plants and fish to maintain the delicate ecosystem of our natural swimming pool. Summer is just around the corner and we're excited for another year of swimming in this amazing natural pool!

Our backyard farm is full of adventures, and we're so happy to share our farm vlog with you. Hopefully you can feel inspired to grow something of your own, or care for an animal with kindness like we strive to do. Thanks for watching!

Just a heads up, most adult cats are actually lactose intolerant. Probaby safest not to let them get too much milk. Regardless of how delicious they think it is haha

You can BUY goat collars (basically a 1" wide nylon strap with buckle) in many colors. They come in several sizes, with plenty of holes to fine-tune the fit.

Thank you for letting her retire. I totally agree! 9 years its time to retire her. I absolutely let all my older girls stay unless I have a secure forever pet home arranged. For our farm, it works out great because our goats are here as weed eaters clearing brush cows won't. I use Premiere 1 netting so we have 3 groups moving all the time.

What about a collar that was 2/3 fabric/ something not stretchy and 1/3 elastic? That way it’s not too stretchy but also could stretch over their head

Letting domestic cats run free outside is a tremendous risk to their health and that of other animals in the area. It's also a very irresponsible decision as a pet owner.

If they get stuck it will just slip off or maybe tear. I make headbands for my daughter the same way. You can even put their name on it. I would love to help you out just need measurements.

I don’t know about goats, but my dogs are all serious pullers on leash, (I do skijoring with our dogs, but not on their collars obviously lol - pull harnesses only 😂), but the collars don’t let go - it’s only if they do a big, sustained pull that they release (as they would do if they got them caught on something). Often breakaway collars come in pretty colours and patterns now as well. 🤷🏻‍♀️
