if this movie gets any Oscar buzz then it only makes what Jennifer Anniston comments true.

I'm amazed how people get the wrong impression of Dark Night. In the movie the
Joker shows Batman how similar they are because they both don't follow the rules and how good and bad it is very subjective and interpretive. It's a movie that can question whether a vigilante really is the best solution for that society despite the crimes.

@J Wavy the reason why the left is freaking out is because the joker gangs say and act just like antifa in the real world....anyone who calls out leftist crap these days in media they try to literally happened to Dave Chappelle newest special last month... tens of thousands of viewers gave it 90+% on rotten tomatoes...the expert media critics had it at 0% because Chapelle offended people who can't figure out basic biology.

I just saw it - fantastic but am I the only person who thinks this was influenced by Walter White's story in Breaking Bad even more than Taxi Driver.

I really respect your opinion but don’t forget this movie is about the joker and even we know is one of batman’ s enemy this movie is more a whole explanation of how the joker developed his personality. Indeed, this movie is a MASTERPIECE!! And Joaquin Phoenix an amazing actor!! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

I think the movie was great, much more interesting and intense than a Batman movie was or ever can be. I love this Joker, although the movie is not that exciting, I think it is a masterpiece. I can't stop watching and admiring Joaquin Phoenix - his Joker is so intense and so deep, he pulls you with him in his madness. I have never seen a character on movies so clearly and intensely like this joker/Phoenix. He was amazing! But all the other costars/characters were great and creepy too.

Spoilers: The 2 unrealistic parts about the Joker were that 1. Him killing those 3 men on the train would spark an uprising and 2. His failed stand up set would get him a spot on a live TV talkshow. The reality of people in these situations is even more bleak than this movie portrays, because they never get a break like Arthur got, to appear on TV and voice his frustrations. In real life, these people end up killing themselves. There is no big transformation.

I think people are also forgetting that the place where Joker and Batman call home, Arkham city. It is a city that is dark, and crime infested. Corruption, illegal acts, and everything undesirable rule the city. That is why the hero that Arkham city has is a guy like Batman as its hero that is very tough on crime.

A very shitty, amateur, attempt at a making a Scorsese movie. Poorly written, plotted, nonsense. Nothing even close to exciting happens.

The more you talk about, the stupider this movie becomes. It's nonsense and repetitive. Comic book fans are sooo easy to please. This is a dumb story on so many levels.

Let me say that the performance of Phoenix was amazing! But there is something the movie got in my opinion wrong. Joker might be a complete lunatic that doesn't care about anything and wants to just to destroy for fun but he is always the smartest person in the room.. That's something the Ledger's way of handling the character achieved. If you want to do an origin story of him you have to show somehow that he is very smart also not just that why he lost his mind...They kind of missed this point in my opinion...

Just like John Hurt completed the circle from 1984 in V for Vendetta, DeNiro completed the circle from Taxi Driver in Joker.

I think the Joker hardly imagines anything’s like your insulting him. I just se flashbacks and other things... sure it’s telling it in his perspective but it doesn’t mean that he has some type of schizophrenia... it’s just that he literally went through some shit... It’s like I understood the character so well that l knew what he was going to do next (I heard some of the people behind me didn’t know what was going on but me... And the way Maury was not taking him seriously and joking around for his tv show it was disgusting.. and it reminds me of today as a
matter of fact where the tv show host
might have a guest on a show and belittle him with sarcasm ... it’s just wow... symbolism. And I also think that this Joker could be similar to Heath Ledger’s because of all the abuse and tragedy... it’s like Heath
Ledger’s Joker is like an experienced Joker with all the crime and wisdom he has gone through and more self control (like his laughter), it’s like he knows what he is doing. It’s like if the make sequels with this movie they can maneuver or develop into Heath’s Joker. It’s like he’s lacking something for him to become a true villain (confidence, no empathy... it’s like they could make these types of developments into movies or at least one)

Overall amazing movie, it speaks and I can relate to the character in a way

Stellar performance by Phoenix. That seen with Arthur and the midget had me on the edge of my seat because I though for sure he was going to kill him. I chuckled out of pure relief that he didnt. It showed just how random the Joker can be at times.

You think he'd get an Oscar??? Hollywood and the media see their twisted ugly influence reflected in it. They want to bury it as deep as possible.

This movie gives joker a very human feeling, with all the real world problems & how a person feels. Making him (A Villain) the protagonist of this film. The writers have done a great job, director has done a great job capturing those moments. I genuinely enjoyed this movie after all the CGI crap. It connected me with the movie. I loved the laugh, like we can see from his eyes that he was still in pain.

Also we still don't know his REAL name, so that's still a mystery.

I believe that the clock in the case workers's office(11:10) and the one on the cell where he is smashing his head against the door window(11:10 as well) is letting the cat out of the bag that nearly everything in this movie is in his head. I think that he really did most of that stuff but the narrative is far removed from the actual events. I also think that the psychiatrist in the last scene IS the caseworker in his mind that never was there. The city's upheaval due to the garbage strike to Joe Chill killing the Wayne's had little to no connection to him except in his egotistical mind. The movie was a psychological horror movie for the books. Loved the movie but there are a lot of people on the edge of breakdowns that could see it as empowering to let themselves take a plunge that they shouldn't.

That's kinda the point. You're not comparing Jareds joker to Joaquins. You're comparing Jareds joker to Joaquins Arthur Fleck. The entire joker movie does not have the joker in it except at the very end where we get a glance at what he has become. The 2 characters are easily comparable just by saying that (ignore the obvious multiverse and the age of Bruce and the lore etc.) Jareds joker is Joaquins joker at the very end of the Joker movie. That's where he becomes the actual character. If this movie gets a sequel (which I doubt), you won't be able to tell the difference between the 2 interpretations.

Won't see this movie, I am not about to feel pity for a psycho villain, this is one movie I will never watch not even streamed for free.

I couldn't take my eyes off of him even when there was other characters on the screen. The script and directing was amazing as well, the pace of the film was perfect. It was interesting on many levels to watch as he descended down the rabbit hole. To see how people, places, simple words, mental, and physical problems can turn someone into the best version of theirselves or the worst possible case imaginable.
