They wanted the agent job to be mostly for white people and not for most black people and ex NBA players with knowledge of the job. The rule would only make sense if you needed a 4 year degree to be an agent. And if it did need a degree, then a two year degree at a community college, training to be a agent would make more sense. However, that would only make the process easier for future black agents, with little money and don't want to pay for 4 years of college. Racism today is all about the wolf in sheep clothing method. No one is every racist until they get caught. Today racist white people are all about trying to find ways that would benefit white people over other race of people. And lets not forget the Trump fear that causes the crazy racist to go shoot innocent non white people.

The NBA players association needs to go after the NCAA in court. The NCAA are cheap labor pimps.

So, my company can't require a degree from me? I'm not an MD, but they still want quality people, regardless of race.

Condelezza Rice and David Robertson being a part of the committee is meaningless - OFTEN THE FACE OF OPPRESSION IS BLACK i.e. Black people have been involved in numerous decisions that adversely affected black people. (money, Stockholm Syndrome)

The reason it's rasist is bc it's only a basketball program that jus happens to be an overwhelming black ncaa sport. Paul jus happen to be black and jus happens to not have a degree. Mr.Smith can't refute that

I can't believe Smith in the past few days. Did I hear him give legitimacy to the NCAA for that racist decision they made and had to retract? The legitimacy I'm speaking of is your mentioning Condeleeza Rice, Grant Hill, and David Robinson agreeing to the now-defunct "New Rules" for agents. My question is what does a Board Member Color has to do with any member's ethical and unbias decision. Mr. Smith you are going to go down on the wrong side of history on this issue. What could Condeleeza Rice, Grant Hill, and David Robinson say? "We believe in communications and the ability to process complex legal terms and those with BA degree seems to have appropriate skills". I'm confused, Rich Paul (No Degree) just negotiated a $100 million contract for Draymond Green and everyone is happy. Lastly, even after this racist policy was rescinded you STILL brought up these people for a second time this tells me you have issues with this. We don't need to hear from those Board Members their decision spoke loud enough.

So why now? Why was that not explained to the public or to the media? They know it should've been -especially when people have been supporting the NCAA paying for the tickets to the Big East tournaments etc... and also those buying the jersey's that the player get no money for

Can Someone Please Educate ME on This Subject. I Thought as a Collegiate Athlete on Scholarship, it was Against NCAA Rules to Be Associated with an Agent. Only Once your Collegiate Play had Ended, Either through Expiration of Ones Eligibility or Declaration of Ones intention to Apply for a Pro Sports League, Could a Former College Athlete, By NCAA Rules be able to obtain an Agent. But if that's The Case, How can the NCAA, After an Athlete Collegiate Playing Days are Over, Dictate to a Player who his Agent in going to The Next Level is going to Be. I would think as a FORMER College Athlete, No longer Competing in College, I Should be able to Hire whoever I want as an Agent weather The NCAA Approves or Not. They Don't Let Athletes Have Agents in College Do They?

How were those decisions so "important" if they can be turned back and cancelled so easily? Please. SAS... it's bullshit. Period.
Why does everyone need to travel to some Indiana to take a test? (Clearly - Most people don't live in Indiana)
Why can't there be simple proxy test centers on the East Coast in New York and LA and Chicago?- with Zoom, Skype and other free vid conferencing apps out there it's not necessary nor has anything been evidence to the public that so much has gone wrong that it now requires such an unusual measure - after so many years of being non-existent.
If the NCAA cares so much about it's players not getting cheated in the NBA's affairs... why haven't they started with correcting their own decades-practiced, god-awful slave labor practices of capitalizing off the players --- in selling millions of their players Jerseys but giving them no part of the profit? at ANY point in time. Why? b/c they care so much. *sideeye

The problem is the NCAA has too much unnecessary and hypocritical power. And their timing is just suspect.

I also think Rich Paul's response could have been better but that's not an attack as much as it is minor criticism. Taking issue with the educational requirement just, the Optics of that, doesn't look good. As a black man who values education, for that to be the part that we take issue with just isn't a good look, but that's just my opinion.

Personally, while many are going to say nobody said black people specifically, I think the whole rule was racist. Not the requirements themselves, but given the timing of it, and in spirit I just feel it was.

But generally speaking, I think more than being racist the NCAA is just ridiculous. They act like they're in it for the best interest of the players, but not only are they against players getting paid while in college, now basically an objection to this man getting his players paid overseas oh, now it appears they are just against their supply finding work outside of their purview.

They clearly aren't in it for the players but are in it for the institutions which they support.

                                                                                        • Anarky

It was racist because it was just aim at basketball only because the racist system already locked up football players for 3yrs they must play before going to the draft. But a hockey player can get drafted and still keep his NCAA eligible..
