PC is still better no questions asked. Yes you may run into the few terrible ports of games that just done work but that is extremely limiting since most semi large sruidos make games work on basically everything PC wise. That and mod support dominates the PC world something console just started with with due to extremely limiting hardware restrictions. And developer options are baked right into PC ports like consoles will never get that it doesn't matter how powerful the system it. And lastly overall performance and graphics are just obviously better as PC offer far more resources so texture filtering is night and day better than what is found in consoles. Only thing console got I've PC is the majority of the PS4 Exclusives since they only play on PS4 which is ashame I couldn't image how bad ass bloodborn would look and handle on my RTX Titan and 9800X

I don't get it. How TF do you port to PC when the GAMES ARE MADE ON PC. And why have certain console exclusives when PCs ARE WHAT GAMES ARE MADE ON. like, htf? or do they actually make the games on consoles exclusive?

What is horrible is when in trailers they have their pc version that is very cool but the actual pc game is a port of the shitty console version

Perhaps modifying the control-mapping from a gamepad to keyboard and mouse is a lot of work, but some cases are just downright lazy or neglectful. - Take Assassin's Creed II for example. Despite it being a huge hit, they didn't bother to optimize its performance for one thing, but on top of that its control-scheme was basically untouched. As there was this "mouse acceleration" that you couldn't turn off because the game expected input from analogue sticks. So the movement of the camera was floaty a. f. and the only moderate solution I found was to turn up the mouse sensitivity very high and the in-game sensitivity really low or something... Maybe it was the other way around, but it fought off the "mouse acceleration" effect somewhat.
Of course, you could just play with a gamepad, but I really preferred mouse and keyboard as that's how I played the first game. Which, by the way, performed perfectly on PC. So they just made a console title which they then gave a halfassed port. - So nice for the PC customers...

I have to stress again, after reading my own comment, that I meant despite the first game being so well-made for the PC... Really, the first has no sign of it being a console-port and it might not have been made in that mindset. - I mean, what changed?... Did they really decide to just go "Well, let's MAINLY make it for consoles (probably for better sales) and then we'll see for PC in addition later.".
They really didn't put any trust in PC-sales, did they... Can I blame them?... No, the X360-era was huge for videogame-sales...

Also, apparently there were 4 months between the X360/PS3 and PC releases. I don't know if that means they got 4 months (or less) to port it, or if that was an additional 3-4 months. It seems like they just got the 3-4 months to port it. No idea what all has to be done with a port, to be honest, but still... They botched it, whether they had the time or not...

Why is it that Japanese games like from Square Enix or Capcom always seem to have bad ports? I'm not talking performance, I'm taking menu design for keyboard and mouse. If the game allows the mouse pointer to be on screen, I should be able to click on or at least hover and get a tooltip on any visible element of the screen.

That's not how it works. Game engines work in a way that you could put them on a mobile phone and it would function the exact same. You have to write tons and tons of code in order to change the way it processes some things, it's extremely hard to balance framerate and graphical quality. It's easier to develop a running game for consoles. It's not the port that is bad, it could be a PC exclusive and be no different

First off it’s not that often it’s just not forgiven, second off the operating system dictates how it runs but parts would only dictate optimization (I have had so many problems with games crashing on console randomly it’s stupid) as well, third the majority of game developers have said that pc is there most important platform not to mention the most money is made there, fourth of course playing a racing game with keyboard and mouse would go terribly that why pc has the option of using literally and input device they want, consoles are becoming more like pc because pc is superior, and one last thing... could i see a single source?

Suggestion for game devs: at the very outset when programming, put high preference toward generalized and OS-agnostic tools. Even if your only target audience is Intel/Nvidia players on Windows 10 x86-64, you'll get consistently better results with POSIX-compliant tools than Windows tools, C++ than C#, GTK than .NET, and Vulkan than DirectX. Additionally, many of these OS-agnostic tools are FOSS, which reduces development cost and difficulty while improving platform flexibility.
Additionally, Valve's Proton works a lot better with Vulkan or OpenGL even when dxvk is in use, and the better reliablity on Unix-like OSes will get you major props from those players.
On top of all else, even with the Intel/Nvidia target audience mentioned earlier, POSIX-compliant tools work just as well, can do just as many things, and will often perform better for AMD users.

It’s just up to the developers to decide if they want to allow mouse and keyboard support in their game. Example if you play fortnite on console and you use a mouse and keyboard you’ll be put into lobbies with other pc players that use mouse and keyboard to keep the game fair and balanced for the other players who use controllers.

Not everything can be tweaked. When you upgrade your motherboard. Your old Ddr3 ram aren’t supported. You need a new cpu and the motherboard itself. The price for upgrades are too expensive. You already have $1000 computer and you need another $500 to keep it up to date.

Xbox games are backwards compatible with every generation and Xbox scarlet will be compatible all the way to Xbox original, 360, and one. They also increase the resolution, draw distances, anti-aliasing for older games.

Game developers are the one who decide if their game gets a discount or not and if the developers don’t like how their game is being sold they pull it from the store. It happened recently.

PlayStation network was a epic fail and they had constant problems!!! Ps3 network was down so much over their lifespan. They couldn’t afford the best servers and programmers. That’s why everyone switch to payed online.

Online subscription isn’t just playing games online, its voice chat, Xbox host game servers and developers don’t have to pay out of pocket for their own servers, monthly free games, get access to game pass (100’s of games for free), and much more. You’ll get your money’s worth for paying for Xbox subscription.

Nintendo couldn’t afford to keep old game console servers open. They closed Ds and wii server years ago and all the people who paid for digital copies lost their games.

Having different parts mean they’re still performance issues. They can’t code for the specific hardware while console hardware is tweaked for the operating system. It similar how Apple has control of the hardware and software. They can make a bunch of performance changes on the chip itself.

Most of the time it’s Xbox and PlayStation buying exclusive/timed exclusive rights to a game. So when a developer makes a game they put a bid out on consoles first since they get paid more. Then after a year they release it on other platforms.

These console companies go out of their way to buy developer companies to make games for them. Xbox brings a lot of money to the pc since they both run windows 10. Xbox OS is a mixture of windows 10 and Xbox. Even pc gamers gets benefits when Xbox does really well.

                                                                  • amr khaled

@ShinyMooTank I support both controls mouse and keyboard and the controllers
The age of the pc depends on my build at least every 6 years I can make a few tweaks and it's on I don't have to pay a full 500 or 400$ for a new console that doesn't play older games

Games are the same price you are right but on the pc you got different stores like steam and epic games store and so on and they all make a great discounts on a triple A games

And for the online if you can remember the ps3 days you were playing for free and on the same servers that you are paying for know to play online, Microsoft unfortunately made you pay for online and that what Sony and Nintendo did after that saw the amount of people like you that pay online thinking that they are paying for a great servers while the connection on the pc is more stable and better depending on your network state

You can use the pc for many uses that make the upgrade useful after a decade of hard working

And finally the Xbox game pass and the exclusives of Xbox is also on the pc and I personally wish this to continue because of what Microsoft can do with the pc hardware they know every pc has their operating system why not publishing or games on the pc?

                                                                  • ShinyMooTank

                                                                    - “at least I don’t pay a lot for games” Games are the same price on both systems unless your talking about Nintendo switch with their amazing physical games and how expensive they are to make, (but they are indestructible even I have 25 year old cartridges that run like a champ)
                                                                    - We pay $15 a month for better servers, monthly free games, cheaper prices in the store, access to digital Library with 100’s games in it (like game pass). It’s not just to pay for online. There a lot more to it.
                                                                    - “Having better controls” that depends on the game. Racing games are better on controllers and first person shooters are better with a mouse. It won’t even matter in a few years. Most new games are cross platform and Xbox already has mouse and keyboard support.
                                                                    - “I have more expandable storage” Do you even play a console... they all have expanded storage...
                                                                    - “I have more powerful pc” Who cares what you have? Pc are just more expensive the long run. Every 5-10 years everyone has to get a new system even consoles and pc players. A new console cost $300-600 while a new pc cost north of a $1,000...
                                                                    - “I have an enormous variety of parts with different prices” That’s not a good thing. It just makes it harder for game devs to make a game for that platform and they can’t fine tune it for one system. Also console makers buy the same type of part at bulk to make the console even cheaper.
