I always thought Dany would only kill civilians as a win at all costs mentality.

Only a stupid fool would attempt to defend this. Not that Dan Casey had much credibility to begin with but wow, below zero now. Way to shill it up Nerdist, stay on your knees. At least you said a little bit at the end, but yeah, you were shilling.

Ugh!!! I was with you until you turned this into a gender thing! Every character on this show male and female was destroyed this season! The hack writers got lazy not because Daenerys has a vagina but because they just got lazy!

Her sudden turn didn't make sense. It was too much too fast. I don't see her as going "insane" in that moment, I see her trying to vent her rage at all the things that had happened. MOST of them caused by Cersei Lannister. SO, it would have been much more feasible that she directed that rage at the Keep, trying to kill Cersei, but possibly incurring some considerable collateral damage.

Torching innocents was never her M.O. She avoided it. She went out of her way to help those she thought were innocents, even though she made some pretty bad mistakes.

Given a full season, maybe they could have built it out more convincingly, but then the show writers (D&D) have shown they're just not very good at writing stories.

When someone you love does something horrific, the only way you can even process it is to say they went crazy. Look in real life when we hear of a mass shooting done by a person that family and friends swear never showed signs. But in reality there were signs. Look at these stories of parents who murdered their own kids. Were they evil or just mentally ill.
Daenerys was someone who had decent intentions, did some good deeds but could be ruthless and power hungry. We saw that for 7 seasons.

But from that person to the person who burns down a city for no reason other than to flex, madness is the only explanation. I didn't love her but I did like her character. I could see this coming after last season. But we needed more time getting there. It still felt too fast.

So the only explanation for everything is she snapped. And sadly in real life that does happen to people. :(
If they wanted a story of a woman who began with good intentions but her personal losses and quest for power slowly corrupted her, they needed another season for that.
A 3rd option for the character is that she was evil all along and we just now saw this side to her. That is the least convincing explanation of all.

I believe Lord of Light made Daenerys mad so she would burn all those unbelievers who believe some random seven shits. Lord of Light is obviosly most possible creature/entity/god/"?bran?" And Lord of Light loves to burn unbelievers so whats better and faster than dragonfire. I had no problems with the seasons or episodes because my mind fills the story that was untold while i watching so i feel like there was alot of stuff going in Daenerys head that lead to her family mad gene to activate. Viserys was allready quite mad too. It was only the advisors who kept Daenerys good. Like many bad ppl seems good until its too late to realise they were bad.

Nerdist forgot Daenerys saw ironthrone hall in ashes at the warlock tower. It was then already told how it will end. If you watch now second time whole series you will notice how all predictions they tell straight come true. Like Jon Snow tells Arya about both taking different roads but they will lead to same castle. All they say happens. Daenerys sees dream about dragon and his viserys gone in that dream and that happens too. Also Daenys the Dreamer saw Valyria burn in dream and Valyria did burn so Targaryens were the last dragonlords left alive. Daenys being similar name to Daenerys and both see dreams that come true.

I actually liked the last two season of GoT. But it seems that I am the only one in the youtube universe who likes almost every episode of the last two seasons. Dany`s transformation to the mad queen came pretty fast, however it works. In my eyes it Dany´s transformation doesn´t have to come wtih a process over two entire seasons. Some things are changing in a second even if it´s life changing.

                      No.

If this was the end game of Dany all along, they should’ve started developing it from Season 5.

TV Writers are not full fledged Novelist because they just plainly aren’t good enough to make at as such.

Danaerys's character was butchered. Period. She should have been allowed at least some kind of existence even though the Iron Throne and the Targaryen Royal line had lost significance before the new demands of a more egalitarian world. She could have had a part in creating a better world with the others as without her nobody would have achieved zip. They could have killed instead the last dragon making her an ordinary mortal albeit a strong one which she was.

Maybe the ending wan't meant to be a happily ever after for everyone. I mean, look into our own world. Don't we all deserve better? But do all of us also really get that in the end? I think the ending is in a way also questioning the audience. How do you deal with disappointed? What do you choose? Will you become angry and pissed off like Daenerys? Or will you accept, that you won't always get what you want. (Hmmm... ain't that a song too? ;-) #rollingstones)

As a person who doesn't give a shit about Game of Thrones and only knows because of my girlfriend, I do agree it was a bit rushed, idc about the less episodes they did it to make better action but they could've pushed it to nine seasons, season 8 preparing for the invasion and a little aftermath, then season 9 being her decent into madness with a solid conclusion.

She is power hungry and wanted to rule seven kingdoms. She had the correct mindset but way too emotionally unstable to rule. According to her if you don't obey you will die. She strikes fear into people's heart unlike Jon who doesn't want to rule but people love him and wanted him to be the King

Seasons 1-6 was the development of Dany's character. She is who she is at that point. This common complaint of "throwing out character development" is just simply not true. I see this as an useful excuse by Dany cultists to bash the show simply because they don't like the way it's turning out.

Excuse me?! Had Dany went for the castle after the bells rung, that made sense, but not the entire city. It's just not Dany's style.

All these videos that seem to support Daenerys being the mad queen do not always show where she chained her dragons just because a single commoner told her drogon burnt his son(she wasn't even sure). she locked up the dragons against the advise of her counsellors and her authority was seriously challenged and she almost lost her life in the fighting pit of meereen. That is not the act of a power crazed, pretender tyrant.
All of Daenerys choices in the series so far have been skewed to minimizing casualties. She chose the unsullied because of that purpose, she knew they were highly disciplined and were not easily swayed by their emotions; In the words of Ser Jorah "There's a beast in everyman and it stirs when you put a sword in his hand but the unsullied are not men they do not rape, they do not put cities to the sword unless they are ordered to; if you buy them the only men they would kill are the men you want dead".
The point I am trying to make is that Daenerys ALWAYS put the common people in her thoughts. She might have felt entitled she had every reason to but she was a people person right from the get go.
Being merciless is not the same as being a tyrant.

Dumb and Dumber arguably set a new Guiness Book of World Record for jumping the shark. What a fucking insult to any non normie fan of the show actually paying attention to the show and acting like some apologists for this ungodly writing. And books or not, this still feels outrageous how mindless the motivation of these writers to get these outlines ahead of time and NO ONE can save it.
