David stern just happen to luck up and be the GM while Jordan was in the league. All credit goes to MJ as far as player popularity

David Stern created an amazing structure. There was brand loyalty back then, rules were defined, and competitive emotions were understood and allowed. Now there is almost NO reason for brand loyalty due to anything-goes trades. So much politics, and boring isolation ball

You cant blame someone because someone else is a racist P.O.S., it's not Sterns fault that Sterling was a garbage human being!

Stern’s biggest legacy was the 80’s and 90’s. The 2000’s were his downfall. The league tried(and failed) to make an Jordan part 2.

Still wish samueli bought clippers and moved them to Anahiem and Ballmer would be the owner of the sonics team that was promised 5 years after there relocation in 2008.

Listening to what Richard Jefferson said about gentrification shows me 2 things he is one tier above and not on the same level as Pierce and Hollins 2 the league is still full of racism that most can't see unless you understand how it moves behind the scenes of life. But I'll take Pierce over Hollins

Moving a team from Seattle to a small market like OKC was a horrible decision. Sure OKC has supportive fans, but it doesn’t come close to generating the market Seattle does. When the Sonics left, literally an entire state quit watching basketball. But Stern doesn’t regret it. He hates Seattle.

He should regret rigging playoff series to favor the larger market teams, lying about Tim Donaghy and the rest of his refs and their involvement in organised crime, stealing Donald Sterling's team from him based off of a not-so-racist phone call recorded without his consent, making Jordan into a deity, and the Ewing Draft.

David Stern is a liberal Jew so is Donald Sterling so are a lot of the NBA owners. Many of whom probably think in a similar way to Sterling. Adam Silver got Sterling a 2 billion return on a 200 million investment.

The Pelicans would've gotten Odom (6th man of the year), Scola (12 and 8 player), Kevin Martin (coming off a 20ppg season), Dragic (who would later become an allstar point guard)

They ended up with Eric Gordon who couldn't stay healthy, Kaman and Al Faroq (sp)...none of those players played good for the Pelicans

But besides that you cant just send players back after a failed trade cause now they won't want to play for you and now when you get rid of them you lose leverage and have to sell for pennies on the dollar

What kind of team owner vetoes a trade because the other teams are mad about it? The trade that was vetoed was a better one for the Pelicans than what they ended up getting, although I don’t remember the details. The only reason the Pelicans didn’t become a complete dumpster fire is because they got insane lottery luck twice, once for AD and once for Zion. Imagine that franchise for the past 8 years without either of those picks.

He had the power to do it as the owner of the team at the time. But an owner of the team is supposed to act in the best interests of the team, but he acted in the best interest of upset small market owners.
