    Hey guys,

Sorry that this video is not exactly what I normally post. This topic has been weighing on my mind for the longest time now and I just really wanted to make a video about it and express my opinion on school, dropping out, etc. Thanks for bearing with me this week.

School is useful, especially when you take advantage of it. I know so many people who graduated who didn’t even try and apply their education to real life. School helped me with communication and writing skills, and developed my analytical skills. Obviously major in something useful that will help you in your career path.

Once you said that the average age in your channel stats is 24/27 yo. This is no surprise to me :)
Not only you are extremely funny, but you have also the ability to develop your own original ideas and the capacity to express them in a very clear yet elaborate way. I'm 28 and I really enjoy watching your videos (and I'm not a creepy maniac, I promise!). I like that you don't put yourself in a box and you have your own intelligent opinions.
I like the fact that the life you are sharing with your youtube audience is the crazy/normal life of a person your age (with parents being part of your life, school, sports and wathever you enjoy doing). I may sound super "old" saying this, but it's so alienating to see all this perfection and unreal fake standards all around. Enjoy University and try to keep up with your yt channel, we need people like you!

you are so amazingly smart and funny and im so happy to have you as a part of the YouTube community. i do believe that if there were more youtubers like you or if at least more people watched your videos and not the Pauls' ones, kids nowadays would not be so... i don't even know what the right word to describe them is. thank you for showing people that good education is crucial and that knowing what you're talking about, being smart and having an opinion is not wrong.

my last school really did try to make learning interesting so we stay engaged and learn in a way we can learn. but one thing I really think that the school system should be doing is making sure that the students are ok mentally which my last school did for almost all students, except for me.

I was the typical high schooler who complained about having to find X and Y in a field of useless numbers... however my mom looked me dead in the face one day and said "if you don't see the value of it then look at it this way, you need to learn how to do this to graduate high school. end of story." and i was like... wow straight up facts. Just because you wont need this in your day to day life... you need to learn it to graduate and that's it. So you either learn it now and graduate or you learn it in an extra semester of high school and graduate late.

It's hard for people to go back to school, yes, because they forget so much and have lives. My mom dropped out of high school and got her masters degree with five kids later. I had to work, earn money and babysit babies. I did my mom-thing then. I didn't put academics first, and I paid yet again, too. We had issues at home. I get no thanks, but that's okay. I love my sibs.

It's cool. I'm schizophrenic. People tell me to get over myself, a few choice phrases. That feeds their egos. It's like, tell me you don't have time for the person's problems and to deal with issues privately. I would agree with some of what you said here, too, but I have days where I sit and stare or walk all day. I stopped going to school because I felt like I was wasting the government's money, and it stresses me out. I can only handle self-paced classes. Anyway, I'm used to people bashing me for word salad, which is something I deal with in the morning especially. I yell at Alexa, the virtual, like Siri, assistant the answer to the daily riddle. It took me about ten minutes to get "it's a road" to the digital princess.

I'm 32, and I've been in military schools/ AITs, community colleges and universities, self-paced classes, etc. I grew up in special ed told everything would be great after I go to college. I'm supposed to right all wrongs in the world with my super powers.I'll inspire you. Never give up! I have been around the block in this academic ride. Wow, I can't even count how many I've been to. On my self-discovery missions, I've decided the best schools are the ones that teach you how to study and navigate through information. Of all the schools I went to, Mizzou was the most useful. A lot of students don't care as long as they pass and get to earn enough to chug down Starbucks and go to lunch with the ladies. I actually care about what I put in my brain more than just songs. It's a demand from my brain. Don't ask. Millions of years of evolution has caused me to obey my mind in desperate situations.

Hell to the yeah, near impossible.. I had to redo years, go to a lower level.. but i fucking did it!! and now I'm back to studying on my own level ^^ (no longer depressed, yay) So to my fellow depressians.. You can do it! It's a struggle, sometimes life-long, but you can do it, you can accomplish things! Even if its just washing your face, celebrate that win!

Mental illnesses are not, they can be extremely crippling and with you downplaying them like that, they are often not taken seriously..

For the most part, yes, but I worked hard and made good grades and graduated. College wasn't as difficult as high school, but i went to a very good high school which was nicknamed mini university. College was a great experience and I am still best friends with the friends I made freshman year. We just had a girls weekend celebrating 11 years of friendship. I know it isn't for everyone, the debt isn't fun at all. Just make the right decision for you.

I think how you handed the topic of anxiety and depression very well. As someone with both, it's very different from the anxiety you feel going into a test. And I'm glad you're cutting back on self-deprecation jokes, in moderation they can be funny, but the laughs for us aren't worth your own mental health.

Obviously, do not drop out for something like YouTube. I do want to talk about my experience dropping out though, and kind of give another insight.
I dropped out when I was 17 years old. I did it for two major reasons, #1 was that my mental health was so incredibly bad that I was missing school (I was suffering from Anorexia, my heart was failing) left and right. #2, and the most important one and one that changed my area, was that I went to a charter school, we had a separate curriculum than the public schools and did not have a high school level charter school. This created a major, and I mean major problem for incoming freshman from my charter school. Most of us dropped out, and it was because what the public school system was learning, was courses we were learning in 6th and 7th grade. We all loved school, especially at the charter school. Learning styles were different, we were hands-on, and that's not the case with most public school systems. We were finishing courses within a week or two and the schools couldn't do anything for us because it was all a massive review. Which is great to have. Some of us tried online schools, but online school is really hard to do if you don't have the motivation. Most people dropped out and immediately went to college. With my medical issues, I obviously couldn't, but to this day my biggest regret is dropping out. I start college this year at 22 years old, so it's not like my life is ruined by it, but it did set me back. I immediately started working after I dropped out, and while it taught me a lot about life, I wish I went to high school all the way through because it would've been nice for me to prepare myself for college because this is going to be a whirlwind. It wasn't something I regretted instantly. I was proud of it actually, it wasn't until I turned 20 that I regretted it. People do treat you different in the job corp if you have a GED/HSE, even colleges treat you differently despite how high you scored. So keep that in mind if you're going down the drop out method, because it's not an easy road even though it may seem like "it's just jumpstarting working, moving out, and doing things on my own." Trust me, it is not like that at all. If you have a legitimate reason that involves your well being and your area is like mine and doesn't have a resource that allows you to complete your degree from where you need to be to get better, or anything other intensive reason, just be aware of what you are facing and prepare yourself. G'night.
