In the nineties I had Optus cable modem which was a fibre to the curb setup, similar to what NBN do now. Then was getting speeds of 60 mbps. Is disappointing and sad to see 20 years later still cannot achieve these speeds. Today's day and age you'd expect speeds starting at 1 Gbps and up. I don't understand why everyone is fooled into this NBN nonsense.

Seriously, we need to dust off the guilotteins and put the fear of the people back into politicians. We've been robbed to the tune on tens of billions, with many future bills to correct this. WHO VOTED THESE TRITORS BACK IN?

My case is I had cable with 100mbps for download. After the migration to nbn fttn according to the law, I now only have 25 mbps for download. The capacity is 27mbps in my area. What a shame.

The NBN considers speeds of 6Mbs as acceptable, I wish, my download can go as low as 1Mbs and is usually below 10. Considering I'm paying for 25Mbs and they charge a premium price this amounts to fraud. Our politicians have turned this countries communications into an overpriced joke . You can get better internet and mobile services in many S.E. Asian counties for a fraction of the cost we pay in Australia.

Disgraceful they obviously don't care about the country or the people who have to use it. It's costs people $80 to $100 per month for speeds worse than adsl 2. It's not just the internet either our government(liberals more often then not) does not care care about the people at all only about making Australia wealthy and giving mega corporations tax breaks.

When the NBN was announced my part of Greenwith SA (30 MIN from CBD) only had ADSL 1 so we celebrated that a black spot like ours will get it first. 2020 is zooming and guess what still no NBN and slow ADSL2 is hanging on. A friend lived in Modbury SA they had mind blowing ADSL2 giving maximum speeds and guess what was the pilot suburb to get NBN? Yep Modbury. When I queried this I was told they had to maximise connections at the lowest cost. Typical Aussie stuff up.

Watching this from a consistent & reliable 100mbps down 50mbps up FTTH connection in Sri Lanka. And since it's fibre all the way, it's already future-proofed with (no doubt) increased higher bandwidths but without the need to re-install any new cables or equipment.

NBN is a joke. Some of the worst internet in the world in Australia. My NBN totally sux compared to the ADSL before it. Never stops dropping out, it's totally unreliable and the process to get it fixed is like watching grass grow. Then when the technicians come around they are utterly useless. I have the totally dodgy HFC internet, decades old infrastructure. Where is the fibre to our homes we were supposed to all get?
The video says the NBN considers 6Mb/sec download to be acceptable for wireless. What a joke. I have friends in poor countries in Europe who get consistent 600Mb/sec download (yes, 600 megabits/sec).

That’s not only an Australian issue I live in central London and there is no fiber internet for me either..Thank the “innovative” private sector who were keen to take over the infrastructure that was already in place (built with public money), gave many promises and delivered nothing. We have an oligopoly and the few companies around coordinate so that is why they don’t bother investing in new networks. Not because it is costly (he would have an amount in mind had they done a cost benefit analysis) but because they don’t care and we simply have no alternative but to pay them for their shitty services!

After graduated from Monash in 2013, I went back to China for 5 years. At the beginning of this year, my wife and I decided to move back to Australia.
When I was in China, my internet plan was a 100Mbps unlimited data plan, it cost me about 300 AUD per year. IPS was China Telecom, which is China's Telstra. It is the most expensive IPS, but the service is fast, reliable, no buffing no drama. I could easily achieve 10mb/s download speed at any time.
My phone plan cost me less than 15 AUD every month. I use 40-100GB per month. Every corner I went to was covered by 4G. Include basement carpark, lifts, remote areas.
I never took any cash and cards with me in China. Everything paid by phone, fast, convenience, and safety.
Most cities are connected by high-speed train. A trip from Shanghai to Beijing (1300km) by train takes less than 5 hours, costs 110 AUD.
I feel like I was moving from a developed country to a developing country. What a joke. Come on, Australia!!

The Indian workers, they use the Australian NBN as a chance to earn lots of money and got chance to stay in Australia

To top it off 4G in the cities surpass it by a long shot last time i got to test a connection in the city it was 300-400Mb/s easily. honestly a joke 50/25 I feel bad for anyone on it. Though even with FTTP you can't get over 100/40 with most providers. the whole network is just outdated already. Was built to fail.

The libs tried to reduce the cost connection but made everyone use nbn. The truth is the federal government should fix the problem whatever the cost

In Australia it's just $45 a month we only have internet service no landline needed i used to work for telstra and boy i can tell when nbn was rolled out it was a complete disaster
